Education is key to understanding the severity and impact sexual harassment and other “unwanted” behaviors can have on an entire academic institution. Early education is the fundamental key to stopping this act. Oftentimes schools do not have the resources available to educate therefore promoting an atmosphere that can potentially encourage the behavior.
With schools failing to achieve successful implementations to prevent harassment, by college little can be done to stop the behavior. The behavior becomes second nature and is acceptable for college students. Schools however cannot act alone in the involvement of prevention. Parents can help educate their children by engaging them in videos and help fill the gaps in prevention that schools may be missing. Although women are more likely to become victims of sexual harassment, teaching self-defense is key to preventing a harmful attack.
