What do registered sex offenders, a kidnapper, identity thieves and a convicted murderer have in common? Aside from being societal deviants, they all passed Uber’s background checks in California. That’s according to a civil complaint filed against Uber by the district attorneys for San Francisco and Los Angeles. The document alleges that Uber misleads customers about their safety and the quality of driver background checks.
